Answer:
No, Windows 97 does not even exist. However, two of the oldest Microsoft Windows operating systems, are, "Windows 95", and, "Windows 98."
That is not totally correct. There was an update for Win 95 that either changed or gave an option to change it to say Win 97. My uncle has installed it on my cousins computer back in the day.
The 'Improved' answer is nonsense. 'Back in the day' your uncle would have installed Windows 95 with a service pack as that term was first used when Win95 sp1 came out, he would have then possible upgraded to Win98 then possibly Win98SE (SE=Second Edition) then possibly WinME (ME=Millenium Edition). Windows 97 does not exist in any form, apart from bad forum posts
to answer the question:
windows 2 , 3.1 , 3.2 , 95 , 97 , 98 , me are not operating systems
they run in dos win 3 dos 6.22
95,97,98,me dos 7
in win 2 and 3.x you must call windows from autoexec or command line
95 and above config.sys file you may set bootgui=0 and they will come up in dos
windows 97 was introduced at comdex 97 big televised start up dog pony show
Bill hit the Start button it went directly to the signature blue screen
it was retitled windows 98 some months later and more patches later
office 97 ran fine on 95 or the patched version of 97
all introduced at 97 comdex
the 95 family had a memory leak
windows 97 was used in China for about 6-7 years ...
maybe something to do with dos6.3 that handled the 16bit characters
windows xp was the first that that can be called an operating system
its a prettied up windows nt /nt3/nt4/2000
nt didnt have the memory leak introduced with win 95 gui
with the newer windows to boot to dos you must hold the F8 key before the starting up screen appears
như trên ta thấy win 97 là không chính thức
chỉ là bản ở giữa 95 và 98 ko chính thức phát hành nhưng có nó
có phát hành ở trung quốc 6 hay 7 năm gì đó.
